415 bhp, 3,600 cc horizontally opposed aluminium six-cylinder engine, rear-wheel drive, six-speed manual transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel vented disc brakes. Wheelbase: 2,360 mm (92.9")
There are those who view the Porsche 911 series as the quintessential sports car family and among them an even more puritanical core group that perceives the GT3, in its various permutations, as the highest achievement of this legendary line, race-bred with countless victories in the world’s greatest endurance challenges.
In the great tradition of Porsche’s Carrera RS 2.8, the GT3 RS is essentially a street-legal homologation model – a raw track-ready improvement over its already impressive GT3 brother. Whereas the four-wheel drive Turbo and rear-wheel drive GT2 achieve their sub-four second, zero-to-100 km/h times by way of turbo-charging, the GT3 RS is a much more visceral, naturally aspirated Porsche experience. With 415 bhp on tap, an 8,400 rpm redline, close-ratio six-speed gearbox and stunning wider rear bodywork for greater stability and cornering grip, it is the driver’s first choice. Lighter than a standard GT3 and with special carbon-fibre bucket seats, six-point harness, roll cage, fire extinguisher and Alcantara leather, this is a race-bred machine in every sense of the word.
The GT3 RS we have the pleasure of offering here is of the current 997 generation and model year 2007. It comes from a sizable Italian sports car collection and, with only 277 miles showing on its odometer, is virtually brand new with only delivery mileage. It is stunningly finished in optional orange and black. Relatively few of these limited edition cars were built, and while each one has maintained its value, the fact that many have been subjected to the rigors of track use ensures that low mileage, virtually brand new examples such as this remain in a class all their own.
