RM POSTS STRONG RESULTS IN HERSHEY TO FURTHER DRIVE MARKET CONFIDENCE

RM Auctions’ 2009 Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey event, held in conjunction with the famed AACA Eastern Division Fall Meet, once again yielded impressive results to bolster confidence in the collector car market. Extended to two days this year, the first day saw the auction of an important collection of over 400 lots of automobilia achieve over $400,000 in total sales. The momentum continued on the second day, with an additional 50 lots of automobilia and 136 motor cars offered. As the gavel fell for the final time, total sales surpassed $9.1 million with an impressive 94% of motor cars sold.

The top-seller of the event was a handsome 1931 Marmon Sixteen Convertible Coupe which realized $517,000, while a largely unrestored 1933 Cadillac V16 Convertible Victoria brought $412,500. Spirited bidding saw numerous lots exceed their pre-sale estimates, including a Miller 91 Front Drive Engine which sold for a remarkable $297,000 and a 1909 Stanley Model E2 Runabout for $176,000.

The strong results illustrate the continuing strength of the collector car market and RM Auctions’ position as the premier auction house for the world’s finest motor cars.
