Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook
Results Overview
| Great Results for RM at the Auction and on the Show Field | |
| The 16th annual Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook auction brought together collectors for a weekend-long celebration of the automobile. The auction preceded the Concours d'Elegance of America at Meadow Brook, where RM's restoration division had a great showing, winning top honors when an RM-restored 1938 Talbot-Lago 150-C Teardrop Coupe was judged Best of Show – European. RM Auto Restoration's work was also recognized by two others awards, with a 1933 Duesenberg Beverly Sedan by Murphy being awarded the Most Elegant Car Award while the 1930 Stutz SV-16 by Weyman received The Art that Moves Us Award. The day before's auction results were also impressive, with total sales of over $10 million. A unique 1953 Chrysler “Thomas Special” Coupe with coachwork by Ghia – a Virgil Exner design masterpiece – sparked lively bidding to far-surpass its pre-sale estimate and sell for $858,000, becoming the top-seller of the day. Overall, the sale attracted much attention from vintage motor car collectors, posting a strong 85% sell-through rate. | |
